iphone only sending 10 second voice messages in apps?

Hello,

I have tried searching the internet of course; but only turned up a bunch of people having the same problem as me but no solution.

I have an iphone 5s and for some reason when I use any App that allows me to send voice messages it stops recording and sends it at 10 seconds.

This happens for Whatsapp, Telegram, Wechat, etc...

Anyone know why its only allowing me to send 10 second messages? This is not a problem on my iPhone 5 and has never been before until recently.

Any suggestions or help from someone who fixed this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.2, Whatsapp

It appears it might actually be the screen protector. Try this to get past ten seconds and in fact go as long as you like. Just move your finger around very slightly as you hold the mic icon. This keeps the screen sensing your input. If I stop moving at any point the message stops exactly ten seconds later in both imessage and whatsapp. I have a glass protector. Might have or try without sometime

it is not the protector or other fault, it is just 2 ways to use the record in whatsapp. Try this: when your chat is in "quick answering" you have this screen (1st img) and the mic icon is in the bottom right of screen, then when you touch it will record for max 10 sec each message, but if you want longer record then use the writing screen (like you will write) see 2nd image

now the "mic icon" is at mid rigth screen, then if you touch it, you can record as long as you like ... hope its works for you and other w/ same problem

Everyone that has a screen protector like myself, keep moving your finger slightly on the record button to go over 10 seconds. just periodically love your thumb and you can record for as long as you want. I don't know why the screen protector if that's what it is affects our recording time but oh well, that's the solution to it. Hope it helps you guys

Thank you so much for this info.

FYI to anyone reading this - I'm using iphone 6 plus, latest ios (9 is it?) and glass screen protector. I send voice memos all the time in Whatsapp and so this 9-10 second cutout was really annoying and inconvenient.
I found your suggestion sorted the issue for me. I now show the keyboard, as if I'm going to type a response and then use the mic icon which is now half way up the screen and hey presto! It now records for more than 9 seconds.
Yippee!
