I thank you for responding but neither resource helps:
(a) I am not receiving "Error (-50)"
(b) I am able to connect to the store to download apps, purchased songs, etc.
I attach an expanded view of the error message. These are the same 11 items that appear; as stated the number grows but reduces to these 11 as I hit "OK". None of the items identified are purchases that I have made.

Thanks for the advice which led me toWhat is unknown error (8268) - songs will not download from iTunes.
Plainly the issue is a common problem and unresolved by Apple.
The suggested fix seems to have provided a solution; at least for me and for now.
