Q: For Facetime on my MacPro, is there a way to use a USB camera for video but use the line in for the audio?
Our TV station is wanting to use Skype and/or Facetime for our morning news show.
We are using a standard USB camera mounted on top of a studio camera to feed video into a MacPro. We are feeding the MacPro's line in from an Aux out on our audio board. We are also feeding a channel on the audio board from the MacPro's speaker out.
In the MacPro's sound preferences I have the output set to "audio line out port" and the input set to "audio line in port".
I am seeing the video from the caller and hearing their audio (from the computer) into our audio board. The caller can see our studio from the camera but they can NOT hear any audio. When I pull up the sound preferences and select audio input, I can see the "meter" moving with the audio input so know that audio is getting INTO the computer, but that audio is not being sent back out to the caller.
It has been suggested to me that Skype and/or Facetime are looking only at the USB for the a/v signal. Is there a way to split the a/v so that the video is coming from the USB and the audio is coming from the computer's line in?
Thanks!
Paul
