The Verizon iPhone 4 can only be used with Verizon.
If you were using it with another carrier, it was hacked to allow it to work. Updating the phone re-locked it to Verizon and it is, essentially, a brick to you now.

If it really is a Verizon iPhone 4, it doesn't even have a SIM slot.
IIt's not hack, and it's Verizon iPhone 4 without sim slot
hellllllllp

That phone can legitimately ONLY be used on Verizon. Are you a Verizon customer?
Well, yes, it's not hacked anymore since you updated iOS. It was hacked if you were using it on any other carrier aside from Verizon.
What carrier were you using?

I'm having the SAME issue, did you find a fix?
Today I did a DFU factory restore (4 times, 3 different Macs, with different 7.1.2 IPSW downloads on each computer) a 16GB iPhone 4 CDMA for Verizon, and every time after wards, it displays "SIM Required", "Please insert a SIM card." I'm having the same exact issue, and its incredibly frustrating! This is impossible, there is no SIM Tray on this model, so why is 7.1.2 requiring it for activation? I've never seen anything quite like this and it's driving me crazy!
IM having the same issue. I called apple and they got me to a senior engineer and he started a repair ticket for me. They said it would take 6 hours but it's been a few days now and it still isn't working. I'm sure it's an iOS issue that they need to fix for all us old iPhone 4 users. It seems to me apple is letting this happen so we all give up on our old iPhone 4 models.
It's only the CDMA models that are affected - the GSM ones are fine.
Call again and make sure you mention the ticket number so they can check into this for you.
