Q: Roundtrip FCPx to Davinci Resolve 11

I'm not able to send an FCPx project to Resolve 11. I export an XML to the same external drive as the FCPx Library (too big to fit on internal 1TB drive on new Mac Pro). Resolve 11 will import the XML but can't find the files.  I even tried doing "Show Package Contents" on the Library, but Resolve still sees it as a Library and won't import.

Is it possible to roundtrip to Resolve?  How about Soundtrack Pro?

    It's late...

I updated DR 10 to 11 (from the App Store) and haven't tested it as of yet. Go to BlackMagic web site and download DR 11 lite beta. I've been using the beta version  for a few months without any problems round-tripping from FCP X. DR from the App Store and from BlackMagic web site are built differently. Something to do with the way Apple wants the app to be complied/made for the App Store. Your best bet is to use DR from BlackMagic web site.

    Hey,

I'm having the same problem.  When I import the xml i created in fcpx, it says the files are not found.

    Any help?

Okay, it's been a while since this original question but I see that it was never publicly "resolved." Ha.  I was pulling my hair out over this one as well.  I would attempt to send xml to resolve and only some of the clips came through.  The ones that were missing, showed up as a red icon.  Curiously, the audio was present on that "red missing" icon.  Weird.

I tried a number of things and can't figure out which one of these fixed the problem as my troubleshooting workflow is about as organized as my junk drawer.  Have you tried one of the two things?

    1.   Make a folder for you fcpx project and export the xml to that same folder.

    2.   Check the "ignore file extension" box during the D-R .xml import process.

One of the two or a combination of both worked for me.  Best of luck to the next poor sap that is in search of an answer.
