Ipad - Flashing Apple or won't start.

I have an original iPad 32GB with sim card and have loved it since I first got it. A while ago whilst away on holiday (I left it at home) the battery went completely flat and when I returned it would not restart. The next day on continuous charge I just got the Apple symbol flashing on the screen every minute or so. I looked on all the help forums etc and tried everything I could but nothing would revive my beloved iPad.

I left it on charge and every 2 days took it off charge for a couple of hours then back on charge again. After approximately two weeks of this I suddenly heard that wonderful sound of it charging and the battery symbol appeared on the screen, worked perfectly after full charge.

6 months later the same thing happened again when I went away on holiday for 3 weeks (I know I should have learned my lesson from the first time) but the battery went completely flat again and when I returned had exactly the same issue.

Followed the same routine and 2 weeks later it came back to life again and has worked perfectly ever since so it was no coincidence the first time.

I do not know if this will work for anyone else but it worked for me and I would have been gutted if it had been dead for good.

So if you are stuck give it a try, you have nothing to loose and it worked for me twice.

Best of luck

Peter.

Hi Pete,

I find it rather odd that the battery is going completely flat if the iPad is completely powered off for the 3 week period. As this is a 1st Gen iPad perhaps it's ready for a new battery? Either way something isn't right, it should use very little power when fully powered off, e.g for keeping time.

Have you also tried a reset, holding down both the Sleep/Wake & Home buttons until the Apple logo appears on screen (Approx 10-15 seconds)?

You may also find this useful as well: iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

Hi Steve,

I did not power off the iPad before going on holiday which was a mistake. But as i mention it is now working perfectly as long as I do not allow the battery to flatten. When it happened I read lots of forums of people with similar issue of just flashing apple logo and so thought I would post this experience here incase it may work for someone else who has tried everything else. It worked for me so it may save someone else..
