How can I check my internet download usage ?

How can I check my internet download usage ?

Hi,

In the last week, I have been using daily ±5GB of data. Usually I used ± 500MB. When I use Netflix, I understand that my usage can increased dramtically, but when I don't, how can I explain my usage ? My ISP tells me that he cannot give me any clue, because my usage is confidential.

What can I do about that ? Can I install a software to check this and to be sure that nobody else is using my internet connection ?

An HD movie is about 2 to 4GB, one or two of those a day from Netflix and your usage looks normal.

As I said, when Netflix is running I can explain the change of my usage. I am trying to understand why I use 5GB of date without any Netflix usage.

Look in the app store for an app to monitor data usage.

There is no such app in the app store ... that seems to do that.

I checked the Activity Monitor utility, and it does not give any relevant data regarding which app is downloading what. I saw that kernel_task has sent 36GB of data but I am also unable to know what this app is relating to. 36GB of data must by an historical statistic ....

Thank you ... I would need more of an app that can record usage. This way it could help me find the problem and point to what uses most of my bandwith. I found NetMonitor. It's PayWare though. I will see if it helps.
