I get message "iCloud Photos is not enabled".

When I attempt to access iCloud photos, I receive the message "iCloud Photos is not enabled." I am directed to the iCloud Control Panel. In the panel Photos is checked, and there isno option to "enable" anything. What am I missing? Thanks.

Hey Frustrating Apple suggestions,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like your settings are not be recognized. A frustrating situation for sure. Take a look at the section quoted in this article to try and resolve the issue.

iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Photo Sharing and Shared Photo Streams

Windows

I installed or updated to iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later for Windows and signed in, but when I go to iCloud Photos (or Photo Stream), I see a message that I'm not signed in or that it’s not enabled.

If you see either of the following messages and you have already signed in, you need to apply your settings.

  • “iCloud Photos is not enabled. Open iCloud Control Panel.”
  • “Photo Stream is not enabled. Sign into iCloud to view Photo Stream.”

To apply your settings in Windows 8 and iCloud Control Panel 2.1 or later:

  1. Close the Windows Explorer window that has the message.
  2. Open the iCloud Control Panel.
    • In Windows 8, go to the Start screen, then click the iCloud tile.
    • In Windows 7, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
  3. Select iCloud Photos (or Photo Stream), if it's not already selected.
  4. Next to iCloud Photos (Photo Stream), click Options. Select My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing (Shared Photo Streams) if you wish to share certain photos. Click OK.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Return to iCloud Photos (Photo Stream).

Have a nice day,

Mario
