BSD process name corresponding to current thread: kernel_task

Hi,

I have a late iMac 2013 and have had problems since day one and always just assumed it was bad RAM as i upgraded to 16GB, from 8. I finally took the RAM i purchased out and have left the original RAM in and still continually get the below error after restart.

I have removed Kasperky via the Kaspersky removal tool but i notice it still references it below? Unusually it seems to be ridiculously unstable when i am downloading any Movies i have purchased from iTunes (the current movie has crashed 4 or 5 times today) or if i am ripping a DVD i have purchased using iSkysoft.

I have started in safe mode but that made no difference, i actually think it has gotten worse since i removed the extra RAM.

Any help is appreciated.

You're right, there are still remnants of Kaspersky. Check their website to see if there are additional instructions for removing their software - perhaps an uninstaller function that may be provided with the installer. BTW, Kaspersky often crops up on here as being the cause of instability for some users.

You may also want see if you can live without the other third party items (uninstalling them according to the developers instructions) which may also be causing problems if they are not fully optimised for Mavericks 10.9.4. If they are essential to what you do, check for updates.

Thank you. Tried to uninstall again and uninstalled some of the digidesign stuff and just got the crash again. I have no idea how to get it off if the uninstall program won't remove it?

Without fail, every time i am downloading a movie on iTunes or transferring large files between hard drives i get this crash. I have moved my whole life to Macs, i have 2 Macbook Pros, a Mac Mini, had every iPhone, have owned every iPad and have never had any issues with anything until i purchased the iMac last year. The crashing has been happening since day one, i would not recommend the iMac to anyone, it is a waste of money and i should have just paid the extra couple of thousand dollars and got the Mac Pro!

FYI, i have Kaspersky on my laptops and Mac Mini and never had an issue. The only difference between this iMac and the others is the music stuff. the 00family/digidesign and the paceap are not on my others. I have updated the drivers for the 003family and it did not fix the problem.

The most frustrating part of all is that i may go 6 hours of straight use and not crash and then 3 times in 30 mins it will crash.

It's always best to uninstall stuff according to instructions from the developer (if they are available)., but if that's failed, you could try searching for the elusive files using an app such as EasyFind or Find Any File to locate and remove the items, restarting once done.

I see the paceap.kext on your crash report references Snow Leopard whilst you are running Mavericks. Perhaps there is a Mavericks version of that, or remove it if not needed.

There's no guarantee that your crashes are caused by these software items, but they do often crop up in these reports as causing problems for some. Removing the non-Apple stuff may reveal whether the third party items are causing the problem or not.
