maverick upgrade problem

I am trying to upgrade to mac os x 10.9.0 from 10.6.8 but it wont let me. can anyone help me?

Just to be clear, you will be updating to 10.9.4 not 10.9.0. It's a direct upgrade to the latest.


Please create a clone backup first. That way if you have any issues it's a easy option to revert to Snow Leopard.


Both of these applications can be used to create a clone. You will need an external drive for the backup.

Under the Apple in the Menu bar > About this Mac what version is installed. If you do have 10.9.0, then you will need to either run the combo updater but most likely you need to reinstall Mavericks. (Same instructions if you had never installed.)


It's strange that the 10.9.4 updater is even an option if you don't already have Mavericks 10.9.0 installed. Lanny's instructions will get the full installer. It installs 10.9.4 so there will be no need to update.
