Thanks for the quick response!
I had received the unit from a friend who said it was not working. I removed the HDD and RAM and was going to recycle it, but decided I'd try to fix it. Currently the unit will not power on at all unless I do a SMC reset, and even after that, I do hear the boot chime, but no video on the LCD or on the external display, leading me to believe that this unit was affected by the Nvidia extended warranty repair until Dec. 7th 2012. Unfortunately, I didn't receive the unit until after this date. So I've looking into the replacement cost of a new Logic board, and deemed it worthwhile to repair. I have lots of hardware experience and replacing motherboards is a simple process for me, but I am just not as experienced as I would like to be with macs, which is why I wasn't sure if this would be an issue or not. I browsed around on google and ifixit, but haven't found a good answer (there was another post similar, but the reply to the OPs question was just, "Yes.") which I don't find to be a very acceptable answer with no additional details as far as why.
But I'll keep searching, and if I don't come up with anything, well, I'll just order the part and try it out, and if it doesn't work, then I'll just eat the 15% restocking fee which wouldn't be too bad, since at that point I'd be striping the unit down and selling all the parts to be used as replacements.
So thanks again for your response, and I'll try to update this after I receive the logic board.
