Is the cable an Apple cable? Or is it from some other source? Try a reset of your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.

Yes it is the Apple lightning to USB adapter --formally the CCK adapter. I havnt used it in about a year and I took it out and tried using it again. The weird thing is I just plug in the adapter itself with nothing attached to the USB port and I get the power message. I have updated bot my iPads and iphone to the latest software. i just wonder if Apple forgot to allow this device to work or there is a mismatch of software on the device.

I Was using it with a usb dac for music and it was perfect last year.

i Also have the lightning to hdmi out and that works just fine on all my pads and phone And that to has been sitting for a while.

If this adapter is actually the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter then the device expects to receive power from the camera. When you connect a camera and turn on the camera the ipad will initiate the Photo Import function.

K So I have to have power on the device formally known as "CCK" 1st. Then I plug into I device.

I Will give it a shot. I am not using for the camera though it is for music and usb thumb drives. I was using it just fine a year ago and recently wanted to play some hd music using my dac.

I Wish they would just make a lighting to usb headphone with a good dac in the headphone. It would make it easier. These usb dongle kind of *****.

thank you for trying to help though I appreciate it.
