Q: Restoring and updating iPad 2

I haven't been able to use my iPad for a couple of weeks as the screen has not come on. I tried to restore and update it on iTunes, but when doing this iTunes continues to say waiting for iPad even though iTunes recognises the iPad is connected. The progress bar on the iPad makes no progress. How can I restore my iPad so I can use it again?

The screen does not show anything, but can you get any response at all from the iPad when you tap different parts of the screen? Can you confirm that the device is actually powered up?

Have you tried a reset? Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
