I went to App Store and Keynote, Pages, Numbers etc. all had an update. I pressed install but now I do not want to update them. I paused update for now, is there any way to cancel the update?

No. You can quit App Store which will stop the download, however, the next time you open App Store it will continue trying to download the software. As for your previous copies of the software you will likely find that they are now partially overwritten and unrecoverable.
If you continue (un-pause) the update, press the option key on the keyboard which will change the "pause" button to a "cancel" button. You can then cancel the update. Cancelling the update will however NOT remove the update from the available updates in the Mac App Store.
