Nano restore problems

I have a brand new white nano that for some reason in the middle of synching, froze up and said it cannot be written to. I tried to restore but kept getting "unknown error #1418". I took it to the Genius at the apple store who restored it with no problem. Took it home, tried to synch it up and was told to restore first. Attempted to do that and again, unknown error #1418. Made another trip to the Apple store with my Macbook in tow and they were able to restore no problem. They mentioned I had to be connected to the internet so I thought maybe that was my problem. Well, this morning I was loading some songs and about half way through I get a message saying my ipod can't be written to and then it says my ipod is in recovery mode and to restore it. Well, again when I try that I get that error code. My internet connection is up and running so I don't think that's the problem. I'm baffled and tired of driving across town everyday to deal with this. Anybody have any ideas?
