My shift key doesn't work to pick up multiple files

I have this problem and it is very aggravating. I want to transfer audio books from a thumb drive to ITunes and I have to select each disc and hold down the shift key to transfer them. I cannot select all or click on the first one and hold down command or shift and select the last one and get them all to copy. I think this is a Mac problem as I do not encounter this with a PC

How are you selecting the files, and what does happen?

You must hold the key down from the time you select the first file until after you select the last file, are you doing that?

The result you describe is exactly what is supposed to happen if you used the command key instead of the shift key. So what happens if you use the command key instead of shift?

Not if they are sequential, which is what the OP seems to want.

huuum, that's exactly what happened to me on "icon view". on the other hand, when on list view, this stuff worked and selected all the files, from 1st to the last.

If you want to select all files in a folder with icon view, you could try Cmd+A.

You must drag out a selection if you want to select multiple items.

You can use the Shift or Command keys in conjunction with the drag to toggle the selection that is inside the new, modified drag.

I have the same problem; used to work fine (icon or list view) but after the latest software updated, it stopped working. Now only works if you change to list view. I have contact Apple and I am still waiting for them to come back. Hopefully they will sort this issue soon. Good luck and let us know if you find a solution. I will do the same.
