Is there a way to get the page curl transition back?

I noticed in iBooks for Mac and iBooks in iOS7 that the beautiful page curl have been eliminated in favor of a slide transition which makes the book feel like its a stack of stiff presentation cards. Is there a way to get the beautiful page curling effect back and make an iBook an iBook again instead of a PowerPoint presentation look-a-like?

Just to clarify the situation, iOS 7 still has page curl in iBooks for .epub format books. OS X iBooks has never had page curl. To ask Apple to add page curl to the latter, use

Books in the .ibooks format produced by iBooks Author, do not have page curl, even in iOS. To ask Apple to add that feature, use

hmh... and then what? I just did a quick test with a newsletter in Pages and saved it out as an ePub as you suggested. Same thing. I appreciate your reply but you are suggesting an "just format your drive and install the system again" type solution without actually giving any details how that is going to help. Can you be more specific? And what if my book is done on Blurb or in iAuthor already? Are you saying I have to completely redo it just to get the transition back that makes sense and has been taken away for no apparent reason?

Thanks Tom for taking the time to engage on this question. It seems like it's an OS level thing, a default kind of transition that Apple removed in favor of this non-sensical sideways slide in their effort to be like Google. What I am trying to figure out is whether there's a setting in the iBooks viewer to call for the beautiful page curl or a way to invoke it in the authoring software. Obviously I'd rather not have to redo the entire book in another authoring package. As I mentioned I did a quick test in Pages and exported as epub but it didn't have the page curl. I looked through all the menus in Pages but couldn't find a command or anything to invoke the page curl transition. Can you tell me how you get it to do the page curl?
