Why does my Macbook Pro screen go black when the charger is plugged in while using bootcamp?

While on bootcamp, my computer runs perfectly fine unless I have the charger plugged in. Once I plug it in the screen goes black and starts to charge. I know the computer is still on because I can hear audio from videos if one is playing while I plug in the charger. Once I unplug it the screen comes back on. This makes it so I am unable to work on my computer with the charger plugged in. This is a new problem and did not start once I installed windows 7, it used to work fine. Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

I have the opposite problem. As soon as I remove the charging cable, the screen goes black. After finding this post, I was able to get display back using the brightness buttons. I have a Macbook Pro late 2016 with a fresh bootcamp install from last night. I did not set the machine to darken on cable removal. In fact, I saw the battery power brightness setting was left at the default around 40%. I have no idea why suddenly i get a black screen when the charging cable is disconnected.

I also just experienced an absence of mouse pointer on boot up. The trackpad is working, but no pointer. Reboot solved the issue.

I am also seeing rapid battery drain and a clock that has gone out of sync since last night by over 3 hours. For a machine that is only a few days old, I concerned I have a defect or this generation is not ready for prime time. I hate to say it, but I am considering returning this machine since it doesn't seem stable. The reason I bought this machine is to overcome a swelling battery in a macbook pro late 2013. Even as I type this on the new machine, the brightness is up and down...

Such beautiful hardware, but useless if so unreliable.

The tbMBPs have 'teething' issues with Bootcamp. OS X is the primary focus for Apple, while BC/Windows is best-effort.

I have stuck to a 2013 rMBP. Battery swelling issues are much cheaper to address with a new battery, instead o a whole new Mac.

It does! After hitting the space bar, multiple keys and the trackpad, I thought why not try the brightness buttons and it came back....it's like the setting with the charger in was 0% brightness...I never thought to try that because my screen is normally 75-100% and I had no idea there were multiple settings for plugged in/not plugged in. Thank you!

Thank you for your suggestion! It helped me with this issue as well. My problem was that I was that Windows had started but wasn't logged in yet--the brightness keys didn't work on the windows login screen. I had to log in to Windows, then plug in the power, then turn the brightness up.

Thanks again for the suggestion!
