When i go to my storage it says that 75gb is taken by applications

My computer used to say that 30gb was taken up by "other" but now other is 0gb and 75gb is applications. and i don't download a lot of applications. it used to say like 5gb under applications but why now does it say 75????? i need help. i have a macbook air 11" mid 2012. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!
