ipod nano 5th gen, iphone 4s wont connect

I have a Ipod nano 5th Gen, and recently after working a few days ago it won't connect to itunes or show up as a device. All it does is briefly appear then is gone a second later. This is happening on my laptop, but on my desktop it works, which i don't use anymore. My iphone 4s and my ipod nano 5th gen both will not connect. ive already tried resetting ipod, uninstalling itunes, new cords. i'm running version 11.3.1 which is the most up to date version.
