Apple mail can receive mail but won't send mail

Next time you compose a message, check to see what email account it is sending from.

can you post a screen shot of your account settings inside your mail app?

Change: Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Gmail (Offline) to Gmail

I have mine and it is "smtp.google.com:??????". ?????? = account name.

Change it under "edit SMTP server list.

Hey there, this took me a second too. For anyone else who has this problem:

After checking and making sure the password is correct, noticed the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Gmail (offline). Using the Drop Down where this is, select "Edit SMTP Server List"--> Click "Advanced" --> check the password here.

For whatever reason, it still had my old password (could tell by the number of digits). Update password here and should be good to go!

This worked for me but it continually reverts of "Offline".....please Apple, make a permanent fix!!

Thank you so much. Had spent a half hour with the internet provider who was telling me to save all the emails, delete and rebuild the account etc. before looking here and trying this which worked perfectly.
