Refresh iPad calendar

I'm using my iPad Calendar.

I make a change on my Phone (android).

With my MacBook Air, I simply type CMD-R to refresh, which causes iCal to check for changes on my shared/subscribed calendars (Google in this case). Perfect!!!

But on my iPad, I don't see any "REFRESH" button or command. What gives?

My only recourse is to (A) double-click the home button, then (B) Kill the Calendar app, and then (C) Re-Launch the calendar app.

It seems that when the calendar is first launched, it goes through a normal REFRESH of shared/subscribed calendars.

Is this the only way to refresh the calendar on an iPad? Really???

iPad, iOS 7.1.2, mini

In the calendar app, tap the Calendars button at the bottom of the screen. A window will pop up with all of your calendars in it. Pull down on the window right under where it says Show Calendars. You will see the spinning refresh wheel and that refreshes the calendars.
