What you need
To use AirPlay, you need these:
- iPhone 4 (or later), iPad, iPad mini, or iPod touch (4th generation or later)
- For videos or photos: Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)
- For music: Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation), AirPort Express, or AirPlay-enabled speakers or receivers

l just wondering if you could help me with another problem,
With my iPad Air sometimes it is hard to swipe up and get airplay and when l do , now and again the airplay icon is missing showing only airdrop..
then after trying for abit it will re-appear..
i pad as updated software and is less than a year old.

If it does it may be a wifi reception problem - both the iPad and Apple TV must be on the same wifi network with a decent signal to both devices. Heres more trouble shooting info:

Trouble seems to be it's hard to swipe to get the icons for airdrop/ airplay to display and sometimes the airplay icon is missing..
