Ipad mirroring onto tv but iphone mirroring will not even though it's on airply
IIpad mirroring works on airplay but iphone mirroring on airplay does not show on tv with Apple TV

That's why it doesn't work. The iPhone 4 does not support AirPlay mirroring. Mirroring requires an iPhone 4S or later.
OOh... But it does have airplay on the iphone and l can get music on airplay and you tube videos but it does not show these apps on the television like the ipad..
AirPlay has other functions besides mirroring. You can't get it to show apps on the TV on your iPhone since it doesn't support mirroring.
it also says this on the apple site..
What you need
To use AirPlay, you need these:
- iPhone 4 (or later), iPad, iPad mini, or iPod touch (4th generation or later)
- For videos or photos: Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)
- For music: Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation), AirPort Express, or AirPlay-enabled speakers or receivers
Ok thanks .. So what can l do with the iphone4 airplay with Apple TV .... If anything
As I already said, AirPlay has other functions such as streaming music, photos, etc. That is what those requirements are for. The requirements for mirroring are: iOS: Use AirPlay Mirroring.
No problem unstand it now , was just abit confused with the terms airplay and mirroring..

l just wondering if you could help me with another problem,
With my iPad Air sometimes it is hard to swipe up and get airplay and when l do , now and again the airplay icon is missing showing only airdrop..
then after trying for abit it will re-appear..
i pad as updated software and is less than a year old.
Check if your Apple TV also has the latest software update. If it does it may be a wifi reception problem - both the iPad and Apple TV must be on the same wifi network with a decent signal to both devices. Heres more trouble shooting info:
Read troubleshooting and all is correct.. Wi-fi signal is strong...
Trouble seems to be it's hard to swipe to get the icons for airdrop/ airplay to display and sometimes the airplay icon is missing..
