Yes. It should be able to run Mavericks (and Yosemite, when it's released).
Time Machine backs up to "My Book" hourly, so I should be all set with that. I just found out that I need 10.7.5 to run the Quark upgrade, thus my inquiry. Thank you for the information. I didn't want to spend $19 to find out. 🙂
