"An internal error has occurred" -- can't install itunes.

ITunes was slow and wouldn't install the most recent update so I uninstalled it. When I've attempted to run the file after installing it since then, it starts to run but gives me the error message in the title three times, before it says iTunes couldn't be configured and press finish to exit.

I deleted everything that had to do with iTunes or apple on my computer then tried installing different versions of iTunes, but I get the same error message at the same time in the process. When I was downloading something else, I got the same error message with the numbers 1359 in it, but I'm not having any luck here.

Windows 7, 64 bit, btw, but I've done system restore, deleted everything from Apple/iTunes multiple times, tried downloading multiple versions of iTunes, and still the same message.

Any tips?

update 11.1.4 won't install on my laptop. Now I can't get iTunes to work at all.

I also have the same problem with the latest update 11.3.1.2x64. I followed all of the suggestions, cleared every last trace of itunes and apple of my windows 7 pc, no luck. I then downloaded previous versions from www.oldapps.com/itunes.php going back about 3 - 11.3x64, 11.1.5, 11.1.2 etc, same problem.

Did a system restore to before the uninstall, then itunes was back but wouldn't start because of missing files.

Uninstalled everything again! Same old same old. Tried Fixit as suggested, no joy.

Then I tried the suggestion of extracting and trying to install each individually, and all except AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi worked. Yay!! Thank you akessa!

Speaking of updates... after a large amount of time beating my head on the wall, I discovered some word on the interwebs that this baby:

http://www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-windows/microsoft-patch-kb-2918614-triggers -key-not-valid-use-more-errors-249973

Is the root of the problem. I uninstalled the update and I can install stuff again! It wasn't just apple software, it was all kinds of crap.
