Profile Manager v Menu Bar extras

Trying to apply device settings to some lap iMacs. Running 10.9.4 on both client and server.

When I push a profile out to client and log in, the menu bar extras (clock, etc) repeatedly fail to launch/crash. (They will flash for an instant, vanish and repeat every 10 sec) The logs have entries like this:

SystemUIServer[3275]: Cannot find executable for CFBundle 0x7fab41e2dc80 </System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/Clock.menu> (not loaded)

SystemUIServer[3275]: Cannot find executable for CFBundle 0x7fab41e2ec70 </System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/Volume.menu> (not loaded)

If I remove profile manager certs control, menu bar extras function as expected.

Has anyone see this? Got any hints?
