Keyboard shortcut to tag a color in Finder

Hi All!

I would like to create keyboard shortcuts in Finder to tag folders and files using the built-in colors.

I have successfully created a shortcut that reads "Tags..." which brings up the file dialog that allows me to select a color. I want to take the shortcut to the next level and have a single keystroke Tag a file with a particular color.

I have tried the following, without success:

Tags...Add Tag "Green"

Tags... Add Tag "Green"

Tags...Green

Tags... Green

Tags... "Green"

Tags..."Green"

Any thoughts on how to get this done would be appreciated.

Thanks!

None of those are menu commands, so they won’t work as a shortcut. You can only make a shortcut using the exact text of a menu command.

Maxi’s idea will work if your tags are only one of the existing colors. It won’t work for any custom tags.
