iphone 4S keeps rebooting and won't restore

I have an iphone 4S and it keeps rebooting. I have tried to restore and it goes through the process partially but won't restore. I have put it in DFU mode and when it goes to restart, it keeps rebooting and eventually get a 4014 error message. its at the 7.1.2 firmware. Any ideas how to fix it?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.1.2

Hey there momo63,

It sounds like you are unable to successfully restore your phone due to this error code 4014. According to the following article, you should use these steps to help resolve that:

iOS: Restore errors 4005, 4013, and 4014

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5314

The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4014).

This may happen if the device unexpectedly disconnects during the update or restore or iTunes couldn't tell the device to go to the restore state.

Resolution

Try these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Install the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Make sure your computer is up to date. If an update requires a restart, check for updates again after you restart.
  4. Restore using another USB cable.
  5. Restore your device on another computer.

If you continue to see error 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your device, contact Apple for support.
