AJA IO box (original) vs Matrox MXO vs ???

HD is still off my scope, but I've got friends... (yes)

My old setup in DC is getting a huge makeover and moving HD. They do lot's of Beta/DigiBeta/DV(all types) and now HD with HVX200 cameras.

The old setup had an AJAIO box via FW to most of the latency decks (ha) and I'm wondering now if the IO will handle the HD monitoring to the HD external monitor?

Should I suggest to them they get the MXO or something different?

Unfortunately, money doesn't seem to be an issue (since I left!!)

Suggestions?

The IO won't monitor HD... it's an SD only box. a Matrox MXO would monitor only... (that may be all you need to do but...I'd suggest a Kona LH series card then you can go both ways with HD material as well as all that the IO did for you. THEN have them send the IO to you?

Have him get the Kona LH. It can injest analogue SD and HD as well as SDI and HD SDI. Plus it can monitor HD and SD in real time.

But...the real cost will be the HD monitor...

What sticks? POPSICLE sticks? I have plenty of spares...

Pickup Sticks...my kids have a set of those.

Clapper Slate (also called STICKS)...don't have one of those. I would like one though.

Drum Sticks? The kind you eat or play drums with? I have one drumstick that you play drums with.

A sharp stick to poke things with? Any you find in your yard will do.

Sound Sticks? Are those made by Apple?

Sorry to be a stick in the mud.

Sachler. A good Sachler tripod will put you in heaven. UNFORTUNATELY, a good Sachler tripod can run you $2000. Low end Sachler can run you $1000. I'll find out the model my Producer uses...

You know, that Libec/Mathews tripod I picked up at B&H is pretty good- about 800 clams. NOT a sachtler, but ok-- good fluid head. Beats heck out of the manfrottos. Vinten are also trying to give the S's a run for their money, but not quite there.
