Error 0xE8000004 when trying activate iPhone 4 (GSM)

Hi there.

Two days ago I restore my iPhone 4 GSM from iTunes and when trying to activate it, I get the message Error 0xE80000004. I can not activate my iPhone 4 using wifi connection because asks me directly connect to iTunes and after displaying the error is not active and does not let me do anything.
I have restored my iPhone 4 from several PCs and always I get the same error when trying to activate it.
Can anyone help me please?

For several days some iPhone 4 users in Spain are having this error when trying to activate or restore factory our iPhone 4 (iPhone 4 Only)

Regards

Sorry for my english.

Hey,

Try the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3221

If you have tried on different computers, make sure they're actually different computers. For example, if you're using the exact same type of computer, you might want to try another kind of computer.

This is a USB issue, usually. You might want to try with a different cable as well. Also, make sure you are connecting the USB cable directly to the computer. No USB Hub or keyboard. Disconnect all USB devices and then restart your PC as well.

If nothing else works, there may be a hardware issue with the phone. You might want to contact Apple. But keep in mind that if you neglected to get AppleCare, you may need to pay for support.

Hello again

Thanks for responding. I've already tried that procedure several times to no avail. iTunes correctly identifies the iPhone on all computers but when iTunes connects to Apple's servers to activate it I get the 0xE8000004 error, and tells me to try again later. Since I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 7.1.2 the two cameras of the iPhone stopped working and the wifi appeared in gray (which is why I reset the device).

As I mentioned before this error is occurring in many iPhone 4 that have been restored or are trying to restore the factory settings in Spain in the last four or five days. I have spoken with others who are getting this error in recent days and has left us all working wifi with iOS 7.1.2 and for that reason we had to restore the factory settings.

best regards

I'm having same issue here in Portugal with iPhone 4 after updating to latest iOs wifi went grey. Tried restoring and now I'm stuck with same error (0xE8000004) Tried restoring several times on different pc's and nothing!!!

Is anybody at Apple going to solve this?

It seems like Apple is ignoring these issues and not helping their customers.

Same here. Czech Republic / iP4 GSM / No carrier lock / DFU restore via iTunes to stock 7.1.2.

I've tried 4 different PCs (WinXP / 7-32bit / 7-64bit) and also Macs (Macbook Pro - Lion / MacPro - Snow / Mini - Maverics) but still getting this 0xe8000004 error.

Seems that Wifi is not working anymore because iP want to be activated via iTunes only. I'm a little bit ****** off. Warranty is gone and I have just expensive paper-weight... 😠

Hi all,

I have the same issue! About one week ago, I've successfully upgraded and activated my iphone 4 on 7.1.2 , but I got an issue with the mic which was affecting the carrier calls only.

I tried restoring the phone and now I'm stuck with this error 0xE8000004.

Is anyone from Apple reading this disccusions at all??

This is severity 1 issue and it's realy disapointing why Apple doesn't give a sh*t about it.

Apple guys. what changed recenently on your end, which may be causing this activation problem??

I was able to succefully activate my iphone on the same version 7.1.2, one week ago!!!

This is realy disapointing, my iphone is stuck on the 'Hello' page and I cannot even use it as an ipod without activation.

Please help!

Mitko

Hello friends from spain

I've been chatting with SAT Apple and they have no evidence that this is happening, have told me that the problem may be hardware. But as I notice that there are more cases like mine have told me that we have to report the problem via the following methods.

To try to unify all the cases and investigate the problem before, get in touch with sat through chat here

https://getsupport.apple.com/ServiceOptionAction.action

Choose the one option Chat, write the serial number or connect yourself with your Apple id and you choose the free option.

When you speak with the person who will attend, you report back that you have this problem and that they consult the case number *** (this is mine) to attach your case to mine and take the ruling as a global thing and not isolated cases.

Then you open this page https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and report the problem adding your case number and mine, that apple from offices in Europe have evidence of the problem and Issue Numbers .

Please go commenting as will your assists and if you can add in your post incident numbers to send a joint with all cases together.

Greetings
PD: Sorry for my english

BUMP!

Hi Vladrakul,

Any news here? I can't contact AppleCare even carrier support (it's a 2nd-hand iP out of contract and also out of warranty - I suppose it was o2 CZ).

Anyway, I have all major CZ carrier SIMs but it's not working at all. I'm 100% sure that iP was unlocked (our law forbids to lock any phone to one carrier) and previous upgrade from iOS6 to iOS7 was OK. Now iP still stuck on 0xE error and cannot be activated.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Petr

Hello KarwyCZ

Unfortunately Apple has not been to comment on this error. I appreciate you that reports to apple following the tutorial I posted in my previous message. My iPhone is not under warranty and my iPhone also is second hand. Following the steps I mention in my last post, the apple guys will be happy to try to help you.
So far the only way to activate the iPhone is doing a downgrade to iOS 6.1.3 or lower (in iOS 7.0 we do not know if it works). If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me through this forum.

Best regards
