Collins COBUILD Dictionary

Hello Apple Community,

I have been using Collins COBUILD as part of ABBYY Lingvo dictionary on my PC for 5 years now. I am very satisfied with how this dictionary is structured and laid out.

Since I bought Mac Book Pro, I have been slowly transferring/reinstalling my software from PC to MAC. I haven’t purchased ABBYY Lingvo for MAC yet, because I was hoping I can buy Collins COBUILD standalone version for MAC. So far my attempts to find it on the Web have been unsuccessful. I did find Collins Cobuild for mobile devices (iOS), but I doubt it will be compatible with my mac book.

Could anyone please tell me if there is Collins COBUILD for MAC OS or Collins COBUILD add-on for MAC default dictionary.

Asking them was the first thing I did. I thought that may be some of the mac users have encounter that issue already and found a way to solve it.

Good Morning,

Thank you for getting in touch. We are having technical difficulties with mycobuild at the moment, and are looking into how we maintain the site in future.

I’m afraid there isn’t COBUILD dictionary software. We are looking into creating a CD-ROM but there isn’t one at the moment.

While we are working on this, we are pleased to be able to direct you to a new part of the Collins dictionary website. This includes the full COBUILD Advanced Learner’s Dictionary online, for free. This version of the dictionary is based on our latest edition of the book, published in August 2012. This means it is more up-to-date than the version available on mycobuild. It will also be updated automatically when the next edition of the dictionary comes out in September 2014.

We hope that you enjoy using COBUILD online, and we apologize again for the disruption to mycobuild
