Q: FCPX loses content in clip, then crashes with "object cannot be nil"
Hi,
This has happened a couple of times so I'm wondering how to avoid it.
The workflow goes that I create new Element or Lower Third with Motion (latest), apply it to my clip in FCPX, fill the Element's Media Well with a small clip in the same event, then copy the Element using OPTION dragndrop as needed. I close FCPX and reopen it, and the Media well clip is just a blue postr for the clip, there is nothing in it, and FCPX declares many (but not all!) of the places where that Element is applied cannot be rendered due to missing content. Strangely in all of the Elements, the Media well shows the correct content/clip when looking at the video through the viewer, but the media well shows as blank on the Inspector.
As soon as I try to do anything to fix the problem, or try to delete the "empty" clip, FCPX crashes.
This has happened with two different Motion projects.
To fix this I have to and delete all the Elements, reapply them, reconstruct the Media Well clip, reapply that, and then re-copy throughout the video.
Any ideas how to get out of this?
