Ipod shows connected but fails Sync test "iPod not found"??

Upgraded laptop to new windows 8.1, installed iTunes 11.3.1.2, copied backup iTunes library to new laptop, added all folders to library, when i connect iPod, it is detected and shows in the ui, starts syncing then changes after about 30 seconds to message "Connected eject before disconnecting" but it doesn't sync.

Passes connectivity diagnostic tests, shows device found, but fails Sync tests, iPod not found??

Even though the copied diagnostics shows that the iPod connects but fails to sync, I should have been more specific than "when i connect iPod, it is detected and shows in the ui, starts syncing then changes after about 30 seconds to message "Connected eject before disconnecting" but it doesn't sync."

My iPod Classic connects to the Windows 8.1 laptop with the Apple USB cable. The iPod Classic is accessible through Microsoft Windows Explorer. The iPod Classic is displayed in the Apple iTunes user interface. The Apple iTunes user interface iPod feature functionality is fully functional with the exception of syncing the iTunes library to the iPod Classic. SYNCING displays but does not successfully sync.
