how to sync to iPod classic and use iTunes Match?

I'm wanting to use iTunes Match but I'm also needing to keep use of my iPod classic in a situation where there is no wi-fi.

Once on Match I would like to still be able to add newly downloaded songs or uploaded cd's to my iPod classic manually while still keeping the songs that were already on my iPod.

Can I do this?
