Q: Extending a Wi-Fi network with base stations
I have the latest Airport Extreme (tower model) connected to a router and set up as my base station to create a home network. From there I have tried to extend my Wi-Fi network throughout the house by connecting another Airport Extreme and two Airport Express, all the latest models, and via Ethernet from the base station. However, I don’t think that I am getting the desired results.
The additional base stations are set to “extend the network” and in the “Off (bridge Mode)”. However, this also goes for the base station, for if I try and use DHCP and Nat, or DHCP, I can’t get any response. If I search the Apple support pages to extend my Wi-Fi network as described above, I am unable to see the same screen as I see on the help page in term of setting up the primary base station and trying to set “connection sharing”; assume the database is outdated.
I’m running OS X 10.9.4 and have version 6.3.2 of Airport Utility. All the Airport devices are running the latest firmware.
Any suggestions as to how the Base Station should be set-up in order to get maximum benefit?
Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)
