Cannot pair Macbook Pro 2010 with LG Soundplate 340 via bluetooth

Hi,

I recently bought an LG Soundplate (LAP340) to use as a blutooth speaker. My Macbook Pro 2009 list it as a device when scanning for other bluetooth devices but cannot pair with it. My husband's Macbook Air 2013 can pair with no problem whatsoever.

I've tried turning off all nearby devices, have had the laptop directly in front of the Soundplate and it says my mac is "discoverable" - nothing works. My Samsung Galaxy Note phone also has the same problem.

Hoping someone would have some kind of a clue as to what's going on.
