I have a Macbook pro with OS X 10.9.4 (13E28). Why does the new Safari 7.0.6 update make my computer run like crap? Ever since I installed it I now get ad pop-ups and Safari runs so slow now I can't even use it.

Nothing to do with Safari or anything else from Apple. You installed adware from somewhere else.

Use this adware removal tool.
