Q: I migrated my information from a Macbook to a Macbook Pro but now I canon access my user account

Until recently we had one Macbook (mid 2010) but when my son got a new Macbook,he left us his old Macbook Pro. Our old Macbook (mid-2010, Intel, 2 GB ,OS Mavericks)  was getting slow, and I saw that the Macbook Pro had  more memory. So I migrated all accounts, applications and information from our old Macbook to the Macbook Pro which had been repaired and clean restored to original condition, i.e. my son's account and all his data were removed. My intention was then to clean out my user account from the old Macbook so my husband could use it just for email and internet browsing, while I would keep all our documents, photos and movies on the new Macbook Pro. After migration completed, I changed the name of my husband's account (Noel) to my name Sara on the Macbook Pro. Then I couldn't find any of our documents so I looked in the Mac HD and found that there were now three folders, one Home folder marked Macbook pro, which had none of our documents and data in it, one marked Sara which had nothing in it either, and one marked Noel with all our data in it but to which I had no access. I tried to log out as Sara and log in as Noel but there was no user Noel. When I went to the User Preferences folder, I had only two accounts, one for Sara (admin)and a guest one. So I tried to create a user Noel, but that didn't allow me access either. Perhaps this is because we share the same Apple id? What do I do now? Should I clean restore the Macbook Pro and do the migration again, this time not changing the user accounts?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
