Keynote 2.2 Remote by iphone 5s

I downloaded the new keynote 2.2 in hopes of using it with my iphone for presentations. I wanted to use an app that would allow me to control my ipad using my iphone so myy clients can look at my ipad while i present. Key note 2.2 says it allows for this so i got it. I tried to pair the two in order to use the remote feature for a presentation but they will not pair by blue tooth. I can not always have a wifi connection while presenting so it must be able to connect with blue tooth. They dont find each other when i go to pair them. What am i missing. Ive been apple certified twice, so i am not a novice with ios. i have my specs below
