how to pull still image from video in iMovie and change to jpeg

Hi I would like to know how to pull a still image from a video file in iMovie 10.0.5 and then convert it to a jpeg file. I am using a iMac Desktop computer with Mavericks osx 10.9.4 operating system. Can anyone help please

How can I make a still frame from iMovie 11? (also works in iMovie 10)

this User Tipp describes a method using a well recommended, free 3rd party app


or, just some simple keyboard-mambo:


• playback your video full-screen shift-cmd-F

• hit Space to pause,use arrow-keys to nudge thru video

• hit cmd-shift-3 to take a screen grab

• open resulting file in Preview, export as .jpg ..........
