Q: *PLEASE HELP* Spinning beachball keeps coming up…

Hey guys, even though I've got 500mb of RAM available for OSX to use the spinning beachball comes up every now and again and when it appears I’m unable to do anything other than move my mouse. Im running latest version of OSX Mavericks.

Thanks!

    Why?

You want to know what is running in Normal Mode (unless you usually use Safe Mode when using your Mac)

I repeat my previous suggestions --

    1. download & install the Latest Version of ETRecheck (it will include a time/date stamp of when it was run).

    2. boot up in SafeMode (until your system runs in SafeMode without the BB, I would not expect it to run in Normal Mode, without the BB).

    3. while in Safe Mode, run ETRecheck & post the result.

OK. That showed the   S.M.A.R.T. Status: Verified which is a good thing.

Did you have the Beach Ball while in Safe Mode?

Thanks! How do I remove those items?

Could someone please tell me if I decide to re-install Mavericks, would I need to re-install every app and all of my Mavericks settings from scratch? Can I preserve my current apps and settings while still fixing the beachball issue?

    Thanks!

If I had to re-install all my apps individually(manually) and re-set my OSX preferences it'd just take days and days for me to do.

What's the fastest solution that'd fix my problem?

    Thanks!

I want to buy an SSD and use that instead of the HDD that came with the MacMini.

Anyone? I just want to know if I can do a re-install without needing to install every app one by one...

No, you need to erase the drive and reinstall, so you will be reinstalling apps or recovering them from the backup you made. It is the same answer as the other times you have asked.

The answer is not going to change according to the number of times it is asked.
