Airport Extreme, Lantronix xPrint Server, and Multicast Protocols

I have two non-airplay printers (an epson PM260 that prints 4x6 postcards, and a Brother MFC for the usual B/W laser print/scan/copy/fax)

I purchased a Lantronix xPrint Server Home iOS edition, connected it via ethernet to my airport extreme base station (.n flat square model) and hooked up the printers to the xPrint Server. They (the printers), then disapeared from my network and the iOS devices can not see them.

I am told by Lantronix tech support that I must enable "multicast protocol" on my airport extreme. I logged into my airport extreme using airport utilty v6.x and can not find anywhere that says "enable multicast protocol"

My base station is set up in "bridge" mode because it is hardwired to and simply re-broadcasting my cable modem's internet access.

Any ideas on how to do this "multicast protocol" thing would be great, thanks in advance!

Multicast is on by default.

There is no need now to setup speeds which was available in earlier versions.

What firmware is the airport extreme running? If you are on 7.6.4 I would go back to 7.6.1 and then do a full factory reset and use all short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.

The product seems to come with old firmware.. Did you upgrade it??

Thanks, LaPastenague!

I will check the firmware on the base station, but doubt its been updated in years (if ever)

In any case, I will try what you suggest and see (fingers crossed)

The firmware on the xPrint Server was updated to 3.2 as I thought same initially that that was the problem.

I described the problem to the Lantronix support guy and he is the one who said it (the base station) was not multicasting and that is apparently how the xPrint server works.

The only other thing I could think of was to set up the base station for DHCP+NAT instead of Bridge mode?
