I have purchased a twin movie pack onto my ipad but there is not enough space to download both movies. Can i download the second movie onto my imac instead.

You should be able to download it on the Mac. Go about halfway down in this in article where it talks about downloading past purchases on a Mac or PC for the instructions.
You might also want to consider transferring the movies that you have on the iPad into iTunes to free up storage space and safe keeping. It is explained in the kb article that linked you to this support site.
Authorize iTunes on your Mac and then go to purchased in the iTunes Store click on the video you would like and then download it.
