Is Laptop a "trusted device" for two-step verification?

Should my MacBook Air show up on my list of trusted devices for two-step verification? My iPhone and iPad are there, but not my laptop. (I am running up-to-date software).

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

No the Mac Messages app can only receive iMessages, not SMS or MMS message. iOS: Using Messages

"Find My iPhone" is often used interchangeably to mean find an Apple device but the quote from the page where you manage 2 step specifically uses the words

Find My iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

and not Find My Mac.

When I first signed up for 2 step, I had some of the same confusion.
