Internet hot spot like an access point for wireless? Thanks. So, this won't work in Linux due to "Mac or PC with iTunes 9.2 or later installed." Cool that it can use USB since my desktop PCs don't use wireless networks.

You can use the iPhones Mobile Hotspot with any devices that can use WiFi to connect to the internet. That includes Linux computers, Kindles, Android tablets. If you can't use WiFi, that's a whole other issue. You can get WiFi adapters that enable computers without built in WiFi to use Wifi networks.

Yeah, USB to iPhones would be a problem for desktops like Linux (no drivers and iTunes).
