Stu, you don't delete things from Spotlight. Instead you find the file (s) on your Hard Disk and move them to the Trash. Then, Finder Menu -> Empty Trash will remove them. Spotlight will update it's database in a few moments to take account of the change.

Welcome to the world of continuous change.

If there was one habit that I would suggest that you get into, it is using HELP in the Finder's and every applications' menu list.

If it is an Mac application, you are in exceptional luck. Apple is noted for its support and service and it is deservedly awarded.

Start with HELP and don't forget to look at the SUPPORT ARTICLES that list at the end.

Need further assistance, check out: http://www.apple.com/support/help/search/

And, as further learning tool, I scan this forum routinely. Beware, however, of those who continually spew negativism. Invariably, it is simply ignorance. Sometimes one has to wonder if it is vested interest. So be patient. There are a lot of us who want every Mac user to be as happy as we are.

I use HELP/SUPPORT daily, even after 22 years using Macs.
