I understand you have already completed most troubleshooting steps located in the following article and are able to resolve the situation for a period of time. I would still recommend reading over the attached information just to ensure all steps have been completed. It may also be necessary to follow the link to contact Apple support if the issue continues.

looks like the problem is with the sim, it comes alive whenever i restart the phone, reinsert the sim or switch on /off aeroplane mode. I tried to put the sim in a different handset and the problem persists. so Luckily my iphone is alright just need to get a new sim.
