I recently purchased an early-2014 13-inch 128 GB Macbook Air. I have done my research about video-editing software and would like to use Final Cut Pro. Would my air be able to handle it or is my only option using iMovie?

It will work, but like Tom said, you need to be aware of your limitations, the most significant one to mind being only 4GB of RAM. And you will need an external drive; video files are huge and you'd fill your startup drive pretty fast otherwise.

Final Cut Pro will run on an early-2014 MBA, needs 2.28 GB storage space to install.
IIt'll do basic video editing, not too many effects, but will get bogged down if you use a lot if layers or large still images. I wouldnt try to do multicam editing on it.
