How do I set the print area in Numbers?
Really wanted this to work! But sadly complex calculation cells don't copy. Only get a red exclamation point when i copy over to pages.
Too bad numbers doesn't work well on iPad. It could have been extremely useful if output / print Could be formatted properly.
Hopefully there is a solution to something so basic and fundamental.
Thanks Wayne, but I'm on an iPad and I don't see that as an option.
Simple calculations copy fine, but payment amortization calculations appear as a red exclamation point once copied to pages. Probably because the calculation table for the payments is outside the copy area.
At least I can take a screen shot and send output as a jpeg.
Here is a link to the iWork for iOS:
Some people here use iWork apps on their mobile devices, while some of us do not.
Hi Macuser4ever,
Numbers does not have the 'Set Print Area' feature. Numbers is designed around several tables, each with a purpose. For example, Input Table, Big Database, Intermediate Calculations Table (all of which you may not need to print) and a final Summary (Presentation) Table that you may wish to print. The Summary Table can be on its own Sheet. Arrange objects (Summary Table, Charts [graphs] and whatever) on one Sheet and print only that Sheet.
If you are using Numbers 3.x (Layout View and Print View missing) try this User Tip:

I wonder why you can't select a range and simply hit "print range".. I understand Apple has designed Numbers to be different but when most of the world sends EXCEL files back and forth it seems something basic like "print range" should be possible so I don't have to copy a range of data and paste it into a new sheet just to print it. I will submit feedback to Apple for the request.
I only use Numbers but everyone else sends me Excel files and requires I send them back Excel files... stinks but it's the way it is.

For projects that require ongoing collaboration with other people who use Excel and also the ability to control printed output, why not use Excel? It's an excellent app.
Then for personal projects that don't require collaboration or much printing, you can fire up Numbers, which can be easier to use for many things.

If you have only one page of data copy and paste it into Pages
Hi
Just came to my own solution which is essentially to hide/delete all columns and rows that you don't want to print.
Agree, though, if this is going to be regular then a template is your best option.

because I'd have to buy the program and figure out how to load it onto my Mac. I can't afford it.

Yeah, can see how that cost of a couple of lattes a month that permits installation of the entire suite (not just Excel) on multiple computers and mobile devices might be tough to swing.🙂
Seriously, the price of things has changed. And loading the software on the Mac is dead simple. Not like the old days.
