FaceTime stuck on verifying

I can't get into FaceTime on my macbook pro. FaceTime works just fine on my iPhone but until recently no longer works on my macbook. I have followed ALL of the instructions in the troubleshooting section and followed all documented FaceTime literature. What now?

FaceTime 3.0

mavericks 10.9.4

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I HAD THIS PROBLEM.NOW ITS SOLVED .!!!!
I had accidentally logged out of my FaceTime account ,when i tried logging back in it was stuck at verifying .
I contacted apple chat and they helped me out with a solution that worked .

When its stuck at verifying ,you must have still logged into your iCloud . Go to iCloud from System preferences ....logout and then login back.
Now try FaceTime .... will work like a charm .

Hope this helps someone

If you are trying to verify with both an email address and a phone number at the same time, try unchecking the phone number and verifying just the email address. If you can get past verifying this way, then make sure your phone number is linked to your apple id by logging in to https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage

Once you have done that you can add your phone number by going to facetime preferences.

This worked for me. Good luck.

Been chatting to apple about this today first over online chat then over the phone for an hour.

They got me to do the following:-

~temp remove various FaceTime plist files

~temp remove hosts file

~uncheck and recheck automatic date and time

~disable any firewall or antivirus - i only had clam which i removed

None of this worked. They recommended checking router settings to make sure all ports etc were open. I thought it may be this because I moved recently and have a new service provider, the settings are all fine however so now I need to ring them back to carry on finding a solution!

So yeah still not verifying, tried my partners credentials also but they would not verify either. Totally lost, haven't a clue whats going on!

OK guys! I think I found the problem! I shall put this in steps.

1. open FaceTime.

2. sign in.

3. choose a Email or account that you want to use.

4. push the "next" button. (upper right hand corner of the FaceTime window)

5. hold down the "command" button while you press the "K" button. (must be done when FaceTime says "verifying" )

That solved it for me, hope it helps : )
